The NFL announced Tuesday that Saints cornerback Beanie Bishop will be suspended the first three games of the 2026 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

The Saints signed the former Steelers cornerback to their practice squad late last season. He will still be permitted to practice and play in preseason games throughout the offseason. The suspension will take effect after teams cut down their rosters to 53 players.

The Saints added depth at running back and might have improved their return game by signing Ty Chandler away from the Minnesota Vikings.

Chandler, 27, has spent his entire career in Minnesota after being drafted in the fifth round in 2022. He's never been a featured back — the Vikings had Aaron Jones and Cam Akers ahead of him on the depth chart most of his tenure — but he's a legitimate speed threat with 4.38 speed who can contribute as a returner and change-of-pace option.

This is a complementary move. The Saints already made their big running back swing by signing Travis Etienne to a four-year, $52 million deal. Chandler slots in behind him as an affordable piece with upside.

The bigger picture here is Alvin Kamara. He turns 31 this summer and has finished each of the last two seasons on the injury report. The Saints aren't cutting him loose, yet, but they're clearly building a room that doesn't depend on him staying healthy. Etienne is the new featured back. Chandler gives them a third option who can run, catch, and handle kicks.

Low-cost, low-risk. For a team trying to build around Tyler Shough, adding juice to the backfield where you can find it makes sense.

The Saints are bringing Dillon Radunz back.

New Orleans re-signed the guard to a two-year deal, keeping one of the quiet success stories of their 2025 season in the building.

Radunz came to the Saints last March as a reclamation project of sorts — a second-round pick who never quite stuck, bouncing from the Titans before landing in New Orleans on a prove-it deal. Well ... he proved it. Radunz played a significant number of snaps and held up well enough to get a second contract from the team.

The re-signing will serve as strong insurance for a line that has needed it. David Edwards will be the starting left tackle, and there might still be a need for a center-only insurance policy for Erik McCoy, but Radunz is now the top interior backup and could potentially challenge for snaps if he continues to play well.

Either way, Radunz gives them a known quantity in the room — a versatile interior piece who's comfortable in the system and won't cost a premium.

It's not a splash. It's not supposed to be. Locking in reliable depth is the right kind of boring.
