Quick take: Saints drop Bucs, but dissatisfaction with performance shows what this team is really about (Analysis)

The tone after Sunday's win tells you everything you need to know about the Saints.

Bad and mediocre teams are just happy to win. Good teams demand excellence, and that's why it almost felt like New Orleans was talking about a loss after beating the Bucs, 34-23.

There is a lot to work on. Sure, the Bucs were probably better than expected, especially in the secondary, which made things hard on the New Orleans offense. But Sean Payton also said that he wasn't pleased with how he coached the game, calling it one of the worst he's ever called.

The standard is high.

"Defensively, I thought we were outstanding," Payton said. "Offensively, that was as bad of a game that I have had as a play caller."
