FORT WORTH, Texas – The Saints believed in their defense before anyone else.
Before Bradley Roby and Desmond Trufant stepped foot in Texas to join New Orleans, the defense was already operating with extreme confidence. The Saints thought they had something going in camp, and two suffocating preseason performances only bolstered those feelings.
The defense knew things were clicking, too.
"Can I get a penalty for taunting the media?" C.J. Gardner-Johnson joked when asked how well he thought the team performed during the preseason.
