At least that's how it goes in a perfect world. The world isn't always perfect. Sometimes you have to draft a guard in the first round or trade up for a defensive end because your roster has a pressing need. But the ideal way is to take care of all those things first so you can better play the board and draft the best players available in a handful of spots you'd like to address instead of being forced to target one area.
