Source: Saints elevate Michael Hodges to LBs coach

The Saints have filled their vacancy at linebackers coach by promoting Michael Hodges.

Hodges spent last season as an assistant linebackers coach after working as a defensive assistant from 2017-2018. The role he is moving into was created when Mike Nolan, who joined the staff in 2017, departed to become the defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys.

A source confirmed this news to NewOrleans.Football after Dan Hatman of The Scouting Academy first reported it.

Hodges previously coached at Eastern Illinois from 2014-2016. He coached the linebackers his first two seasons and was the co-defensive coordinator in 2016. He spent his first two years as a coach working as a graduate assistant at Fresno State, where he coached the inside linebackers.

A walk on at Texas A&M, Hodges earned second-team All-Big 12 honors as a senior after leading the Aggies in tackles. He earned honorable mention as a junior.

  1. Do you think this is a good move? I’m always happy when we promote from within especially as our LBs have been performing well the last 2 seasons
