Sean Payton often talked about "the game" back when the Saints were trapped in a loop of mediocrity.
At some point, when addressing the moves the team made or the direction he wanted to travel, the Super Bowl participants would come up in some form or fashion as a source of inspiration. This approach made sense. If you're going to be the best, you need to know what the best is doing, if not outright stealing ideas from them.
There is no doubt the Saints coach watched Tampa Bay beat the Chiefs, but as far as inspiration goes, at this point, it is probably more like detailing than looking for new or different ways to do things.
Still, even if some of the things were smaller or obvious, they are important and relate to the Saints' immediate future.
