Film study: How Malcolm Jenkins will make an already dangerous secondary even better

You can see it right away.

Malcolm Jenkins is a different type of player. He isn't just someone who plays in the box or covers the slot or drops deep. He does a little bit of everything and does it all well. The veteran safety is just as comfortable sitting in a zone, reading a quarterback and jumping a pass as he is crashing down and meeting a running back coming through a gap. He can cover a player coming out of the slot just as well as he can blitz.

There is a new, more versatile element returning to the New Orleans defense. One that might not be as good at stopping the run as his predecessor, but one who will be an asset in coverage and provide the Saints with multiple layers of disguise and flexibility they did not previously possess.

For a secondary loaded with weapons, things just became a little more dangerous.
