One of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game has stepped away.

Drew Brees retires from the Saints as the NFL’s leader in pass yards and ranks second in touchdowns. He forever changed New Orleans and built a career that is rivaled by few.

So, how did he get there? I’ve tracked every pass Brees has thrown dating back to 2006 to see how everything has come together and how the offense changed over the years.

I wrote the first version of this story in 2017 before Brees broke the all-time passing yards record. One of our supporters here sent me a message asking for updated numbers. Here’s what I got.
